Science as a Threat to Society
In the frantic struggle to live just a little longer, man turned to many sources. Some prayed to God and hoped God would listen. Others treasured experience and passed it on only to their own. And a select, a very special few, recorded their experience, compared it to others, and decided that there had to be a method in which information could be grown and improved on.
Thus were the first seeds of science planted. But old habits are hard to break, and in the ensuing thousands of years, many tried to demonstrate the strength of their system through violence and force. Science, built of knowledge and minds, was fragile in a world of brutality and muscle. It wasn't until a mere five hundred years ago, that science was given a chance to grow. During the Renaissance, Science became widely popular. And now it has done so with a vengeance. Which leads us to the present.
We are in our current situation as a result of messing up earlier in history. "If we forget HISTORY then HISTORY is bound to repeat itself" Who are we as a whole to control the life expectancy of a human being? If a person is suppose to die then their time is up. If anything previous advances in Science are probably at fault for even causing the death to being with.
Yes Science is important to a certain degree, but how much is too much? Science has led to nuclear weapons which leads to wars, cancerous products, pollution and the list is pretty much endless.
It's my debate for my Science class. The subject yeah... I HAD to write about it. tell me what you think so I can put it in my essay because I'm really lazy. :]
